SiteCast Construction received an Achievement Award from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) at their annual convention. The TCA’s award program honours projects that introduce or enhance tilt-up construction technologies throughout the construction sector. The Achievement Award was given in recognition of SiteCast’s tilt-up project in Amman, Jordan.
The Amman project was the company’s first project in the Middle East. With the training of local trades and labourers, SiteCast completed a military housing prototype utilizing an insulated tilt-up wall and roof panels. The project was located in Jordan’s capital city of Amman. The prototype was a milestone for the construction industry in the region, which is unfamiliar with the western construction technique of tilt-up.
Company President Shawn Hickey oversaw the construction project in the Middle East.
“Our project in Amman allowed the local trades to see the benefits of the technique firsthand; they could truly appreciate the speed and efficiencies achieved with tilt-up construction. We look forward to expanding our business internationally and broadening the industry in Jordan and throughout the Middle East.”
SiteCast has been using tilt-up construction – a process where concrete panels are cast on-site and then tilted into place – since 1990. The technique has been used to construct more than a million square feet for a variety of uses, including schools, warehouses, shopping centres and multi-story office buildings.
